Fibreglass body work on any car requires a skilled and experience hand to work on it. Our team at Classics 1963 has a wealth of experience when it comes to working with this stubborn material, meaning we can work on fibreglass repairs and paint jobs to get your classic car back to the standard you expect.
If you don’t treat fibreglass right, it can become a nightmare to work with. We’ve worked on many cars which have required us to re-fibreglass them. This is because the fibreglass bubbles and micro-blisters, allowing air and moisture to become trapped inside. This can happen due to previous repairs which have not been done correctly, or through sheer old age of the vehicle.
Because of how fibreglass reacts when it’s outside in the elements, we will heat it to a high temperature before working with it. This effectively causes the damage that can happen in bright sunlight and high temperatures to happen at an early stage. From here, we can then do what we need with it, including painting and using a matting to strengthen the shell.
We can also grind out cracks and re-fibreglass it, as well as re-shaping where previously damage has occurred.
If your classic car is suffering from faded or aged fibreglass, our painting service can help give your car its vigour back. Due to our baking technique at the outset of the fibreglassing process, we can have certainty that when we get re-paint fibreglass, it’s not going to begin cracking or deteriorating for our customers further down the line.
We use a market-leading high build primer when working with fibreglass, helping us to have absolute confidence in the job we are delivering for customers.
